Next Gen Breeders Program

Investing in the future of the sport and the horses that will define it

NGP’s mission of supporting the next generation of riders can only succeed if the next generation of horses, and the breeders producing them, are equally successful and appropriately supported.

Through network access, structured evaluation, professional feedback, and rider placement support, the program is designed to help create clearer pathways and stronger outcomes for breeders and the horses they are producing.

This is how NGP supports breeders:

Eligibility for financial awards and prize money at local and global events, even after the sale of a horse

Twice-yearly optional professional review, with selected horses considered for development opportunities with NGP-supported riders.

Real value is created in the horse-rider match.

Additional benefits of the Breeders Program:

Reduced carrying and development cost pressure through stronger coordination, partnerships, and access to the NGP network

Town halls, webinars, clinics, and selected breeder events

Industry advocacy to help lower costs and raise young horse development standards

How it Works

Participating breeders may enroll foals through 7-year-olds in the NGP database.

Once a horse has been enrolled in the program, the breeder may become eligible for prize money opportunities connected to that horse’s career through the NGP Breeders Program.

Horses aged 4 through 7 may be presented twice yearly for professional review, development program selection, and rider matching opportunities.

Following professional review, selected horses may enter a defined development period at the breeder’s discretion, with breeder-approved riders and partnership structures explored where appropriate.

As long as a horse belongs to the breeder, NGP works alongside the breeder to support sport and financial value creation opportunities.

Rewards and Recognition

Joanna note - not sure if you were intending BOTH these write-ups, or if these are 2 different options?

VERSION 1?

NGP is making breeders eligible for prize money opportunities throughout the entire career of their horse, even after it has been sold.

Horses enrolled in the program may give their breeders eligibility for private prize money opportunities offered through NGP partner-sponsored initiatives across the sport, including opportunities to earn prizes as high as $1M for achievement at the highest level of the sport.

NGP’s core principle is that real value is created in the horse-rider match. This is how breeders can continue to benefit from successful partnerships they helped create.

VERSION 2?

Breeder Prizes on Bigger Stages

NGP plans to create standout recognition moments with monetary awards at select shows to spotlight the breeders behind exceptional horses.

Marquee Prizes for Medal-Winning Combinations

Prize opportunities are being developed around the sport’s biggest championship outcomes.

Built to Reward the Right Approach

The focus is long-term potential, thoughtful production, and meaningful achievement at the highest level.

Value Add for Breeders

Recognition Beyond the Sale
NGP is working to push breeder recognition beyond a simple thank you, creating practical ways for breeders to receive financial recognition for their essential role in the development of the sport.

Access to the Right Riders
Our core principle is that value is created in the horse-rider match. Through the NGP rider ecosystem, including future program riders, breeders may gain stronger support in identifying long-term partnership opportunities for their horses.

Professional Feedback and Direction
Breeders may access feedback, direction, and support from NGP’s professional network, helping create clearer pathways for young horses at different stages of development.

Stronger Development for Young Horses
From better course design to stronger starting systems, NGP aims to support more thoughtful young horse development before and after riders become involved.

Learning and Community
Town halls, webinars, clinics, and selected breeder events are designed to bring breeders closer to professional insight, peer discussion, and practical development support.

Industry Advocacy and Cost Reduction
NGP aims to build stronger breeder representation, help lower development costs, and raise standards for young horse production through coordination, partnerships, and access to the NGP network.
